As news broke about the devastating effect of the recent earthquake, the Brightelm team, like you, were deeply moved at the images that we saw on the news.  We felt helpless.  At moments like this we can all have feelings of wanting to help but not knowing how. So, we decided to share our ideas on how to use events to fundraise and invite you to share what you are doing to support too.  If we can help inspire or galvanise our peers, clients and suppliers to support those who are suffering.

Step One

We’ve started by putting together a resource (below) that everyone can use or contribute to.  It’s here to help us all find something positive and practical that we can do to make things better for the people affected.

Step Two

If you are doing something that others in our industry could be inspired by please email Marie so she can add it to this list.

  1. Add a DONATE NOW button to your event Registration Form (You can link directly to the Disasters & Emergency Commission here)
  2. Collect donations at your event Registration Desk. (You can order credit card machines from various places – SquareUp has a high Trustpilot rating.
  3. Donate 1p in every £1 of your sponsorship revenue.
  4. Meeting Needs (the events industry charity) have pledged to match fund whatever the events industry raise up to £1500. (Details are here)
  5. What are you doing? What’s your idea? Email Marie and she’ll add it here.
